Volunteering
Age Concern Knaresborough relies heavily on the support of a dedicated team of Volunteers to help us as we strive to deliver quality services to the over 50's in our area. Whilst we are fortunate to have an experienced and hard working staff base there is no doubt that we owe a great deal of our success to the fantastic support of our many Volunteers.
Volunteering is a great way to develop your skills, meet new people and work as part of an enthusiastic team. People volunteer for a number of reasons and many of our current volunteers have made new friends and found a new enthusiasm to life along the way.
Volunteers, with their diversity of age and experience, bring to our work a value that adds to our understanding of older people's needs. We work more effectively with and on behalf of older people by providing opportunities for local people to use their skills, knowledge and experience through volunteering.
We find that older people with whom we work value the involvement of volunteers and by involving volunteers we can offer opportunities for genuine involvement, learning and development for individuals.
In short, Volunteers are a vital link between us and the community we serve and without them our job would be much harder. So thank you to all those of you who give your time and effort, willingly and generously, and to those of you who think you may like to find out a bit more about what Volunteering can do for you, please contact us.
